　　1、 What are the key strengths of your institution?

　　Global reputation- among top 50 universities in the world; Leading research-one of the universities that have the most research grant each in Australia; Excellent teaching- UQ has gained more National Teaching Awards than any other Australian Universities; Good career prospects

　　2、Is university ranking important or not? Does your institution care about the position of your institution in the world university ranking? What advice you would like to give to students about university ranking?

　　Official ranking is a certain way to reflect the position of institutions. However, our advice is that, students should not judge the universities and make a decision only according to the ranking. They should seek advices to find the most suitable universities for them,

　　官方排名固然是反映院校實(shí)力的重要佐證.但我的觀點(diǎn)是學(xué)生不能僅僅從排名去決定去哪所學(xué)校,而是應(yīng)該綜合考慮各種因素后選擇一所最適合自己的學(xué)校。

　　3、How many students are there in your institution at the moment? What about the percentage of international students? How many Chinese students? Does your institution set a quota for the number of Chinese student your institution recruit every year?

　　There are around 38,000 students, 8000 International Students and more than 1500 Chinese students. Chinese students share about 5% of all students.

　　學(xué)校目前共有38000名學(xué)生，其中國(guó)際生數(shù)量在8000左右，而中國(guó)學(xué)生大約有1500多名。中國(guó)學(xué)生數(shù)量占學(xué)生總數(shù)的5%。

　　4、What attributes you expect Chinese students to have when you recruit students, apart from meeting the academic entry requirement set by your institution?

　　For those subjects in Engineering and Science, we need students who can demonstrate capabilities in research. For subjects such in Arts and Social science, students are with good communication skills maybe more suitable. Basically, good academic background, internship experiences and good personality can make one stand out during interview.

　　對(duì)于工科類(lèi)學(xué)生，我們傾向于有較強(qiáng)研究能力的學(xué)生。而對(duì)于文科類(lèi)學(xué)生，我們則更希望學(xué)生有良好的溝通能力。總體來(lái)說(shuō)，優(yōu)秀的學(xué)習(xí)成績(jī)、豐富的實(shí)習(xí)經(jīng)驗(yàn)和上乘的個(gè)人性格可以使學(xué)生在面試當(dāng)中鶴立雞群。

　　5、What kind of majors/subjects would Chinese students like to choose previously?

　　Master of Commerce in Professional Accounting, Master of Business in Hotel Management, tourism management, Engineering

　　碩士專(zhuān)業(yè)里的會(huì)計(jì)、飯店管理、旅游管理和工科類(lèi)是目前中國(guó)學(xué)生的主要選擇。

　　6、What majors/subjects/courses which your institution are offering are really good but haven’t been aware of by Chinese students? Can you introduce these majors/subjects/courses?

　　Master of Arts in Chinese Translation and Interpreting (MACTI) offered by the School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies from Faculty of Arts provide NAATI accreditation. The school is recognized as a leader in language teaching and an international leader in the teaching of interpreting and translation.

　　文學(xué)院的語(yǔ)言和比較文化研究所設(shè)置的碩士專(zhuān)業(yè)中文筆譯和口譯提供NAATI認(rèn)證。該研究所的語(yǔ)言和翻譯教學(xué)水平在全球都是公認(rèn)領(lǐng)先的。

　　Biotechnology is one of the biggest strength at UQ. It is a collaborative, interdisciplinary program drawing on expertise from several university faculties, institutes, Queensland government and local industry. The key research institutions at UQ including Australian Institution for Bioengineering and Nanotechnolgy (AIBN), Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) , Diamantina Institute for Cancer, Immunology and Metabolic Medicine, Queensland Brain Institute (QB ) demonstrate the research ability and global awareness of Queensland's (UQ) biotechnology industry.

　　Communication and Journalism from Faculty of Social and Behavioral Science are good choices for those interested in relative areas. We value excellence and innovation in teaching and research and as such many of the Faculty members have received teaching and research awards at the Faculty, University and national level. The quality of our courses, programs and research is well regarded with many individual scholars in the Faculty who are world leaders in their fields.

　　7、Is there any change on the quota for international students and the amount of scholarships your institution can offer?

　　UQ offers scholarships including Undergraduate Scholarships including: Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships; Higher Degree Research; Australian Government Scholarships. Seven faculties offer scholarships with different requirements. For example, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law offer scholarships to those elite from Peiking University, Tsinghua University and Renmin University. Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology offers scholarships to undergraduate students.

　　8、What about the employment of graduates in your institution? What kind of help your institution provide to students to help them with find a job? Any extra measures have been taken to help students in financial crisis?

　　UQ graduates have a strong competitive advantage in the job market and are in strong demand by both Australian and international employers.

　　昆士蘭大學(xué)的畢業(yè)生在就業(yè)市場(chǎng)上具有很強(qiáng)的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)力，許多澳大利亞的本土公司及國(guó)際上的公司都非常愿意錄用我們學(xué)校的畢業(yè)生。

　　UQ graduates have excellent employment rates and starting salaries. In a recent Graduate Careers Australia’s Graduate Destination Survey, UQ’s full-time employment rate for Bachelor degree graduates was 85.4%with a national average of 81%.

　　昆士蘭大學(xué)畢業(yè)生的就業(yè)率非常高，而且工作的起薪也都很不錯(cuò)。最近的澳大利亞畢業(yè)生就業(yè)去向調(diào)查顯示，昆士蘭大學(xué)的就業(yè)率是85.4%，而平均水平是81%。

　　9、There have been some issue about safety of international students in Australia? Any advice you would like to give to Chinese students?

　　Brisbane is quite a safe city of comfortable climate and friendly environment. Students should also have awareness to safety, i.e. don’t walk alone at late night; be aware of any follower

　　布里斯本是一個(gè)氣候舒適、環(huán)境優(yōu)美且非常安全的城市。當(dāng)然學(xué)生還是應(yīng)該提高自己的安全意識(shí)，如晚上不要獨(dú)自步行出門(mén)；注意跟蹤者等等。

　　10、Will your institution take any actions to echo the ‘’2010 Initiative’’ launched by the Australian Government in 6 countries?

　　The University of Queensland will continue to give support to International students and welcome Chinese students. Besides learning, students at the UQ will be given academic guidance, career advice and other services.
